Making Hebden Bridge a better place for all

What we do

Hebden Bridge Partnership is the ‘town team’, concerned with initiatives to improve the economic and community life of our town.

Hebden Bridge Partnership was established in 2001 to bring together representatives of community and voluntary organisations in Hebden Bridge (including environmental, sport, artistic and young people’s organisations and the disabled community), of the business community and of Calderdale Council, Hebden Royd Town Council and the four rural parish councils.

We were instrumental in a number of recent successful initiatives, including the pedestrianisation of central areas of the town and the development of Hebden Bridge Town Hall under community ownership as a community hub for the town. We helped launch Calder Valley Community Land Trust.
Our Action Plan 2020 Vision, establishing a number of priorities for our future work, was presented in draft form in May 2013, revised, following consultation and responses, and launched in its final form in October 2013.

The Partnership holds regular quarterly meetings, open to representatives of member organisations and to all members of the public.  Our bimonthly Management Board meetings can also be attended by anyone. The dates of the next meetings can be found here.

The Partnership’s Board is elected by members, and aims by its composition to represent as broadly as possible all parts of local life.  The Board meets approximately bimontlhy.

The Partnership aims to work to deliver aspects of the Action Plan through a series of small task groups.  Task groups have been established in the following areas:

  • Market relocation and development (completed 2017)
  • (Dis)ability working group (project ran early 2017)
  • Valley Road working group (now being taken up by the Hebden Bridge and Mytholmroyd Town Board)
  • Housing action (now undertaken by Calder Valley Community Land Trust)

With the creation in 2017 by Calderdale Council of the Hebden Bridge and Mytholmroyd Town Development Board on which the partnership is represented through Andrew Bibby and Anthony Rae, the Partnership is maintaining a watching brief but the Management Board is now meeting on a bi-monthly basis.

If you are interested in getting involved in the work of the Partnership, please contact the Secretary Anthony Rae.
